This article outlines what the Utilisation chart on the Homepage is, how you can access it, and how it helps you.
What is the Homepage Utilisation chart?
This chart visualises your average asset utilisation as a percentage over time.
This means that you can see, on average, how often your assets are on and running, and whether this is increasing, decreasing, or maintaining a steady rate.
In essence there are two versions of this chart, (1) Organisation Utilisation and (2) Group Utilisation.
Which chart you see depends on what you have selected in the sidebar. If you are viewing your organisation, you will see "Organisation Utilisation". If you are viewing a group (which may be a particular site, or any other you have created), you will see "Group Utilisation".
Below is an example of a 'Group Utilisation' chart:
On this chart the key feature is the blue Equipment Utilisation line. This is the average.
The grey on the chart indicates how many FitMachines were reporting at that time.
By hovering your mouse over the blue utilisation line, text will pop-up providing specifics on the date, utilisation percentage, running hours, available hours and equipment count at that time.
Another key feature is the calendar across the top. This provides a monthly overview of the average, with the colour indicating decreases or increases in the utilisation.
Please note that for the timezone all readings are in UTC only. Local timezones have not been applied.
How do I access it?
The Utilisation chart can be found on your MachineCloud dashboard's Homepage. To access it, simply click on the 'Home' button in the top left-hand corner of your dashboard.

Why is it useful?
This chart was primarily designed to help you determine operational productivity.
By having a long-term overview of your average asset utilisation, and how it changes over time, this trend-line can help you understand how well you are managing and leveraging your assets.
How? Let's take a look at the example chart below:
On this chart we can clearly see that between December 2019 and September 2020, sans the drop in utilisation experienced, the average asset utilisation was roughly 60%.
From the end of September 2020 onwards however, the chart shows the average utilisation increased to roughly 75%. What change was made? Clearly, something has changed, and for the better. Now, you can go back and analyse what you have done differently, and ensure you maintain it - because you now know that action improved your productivity.
As you can see this chart is a fantastic way of understanding what works, and what doesn't. This chart can equally help you understand whether or not FitMachine is helping you better leverage your assets, or not. Though we hope it will.
Of course, this is just one example of value you may derive from this chart. Ultimately, you can use the information these charts provide in whatever way, shape or form best suits you.
